Progress of genome-wide association studies of ankylosing spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an immune-mediated arthritis which primarily affects the spine and sacroiliac joints. Significant progress has been made in discovery of genetic associations with AS by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) over past decade. These findings have uncovered novel pathways involved pathogenesis of the disease and have led to introduction of novel therapeutic treatmen...
متن کاملASSOCIATION OF HLA-B27 WITH ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS IN ISFAHAN, IRAN
Using a standard microcytotoxicity (NIH) technique of tissue typing, the HLA-B27 antigen was identified in 30 out of 34 patients (HH.2%) with classical ankylosing spondylitis (AS), compared to 6 out of 70 controls (H.6%) (P < 0.005). We also found this antigen in 8 out of 76 (10.5%) patients with non-AS arthritis.

a nkylosing spondylitis, the prototype disease in the spectrum of spondyloarthritides, is a chronic disabling inflammatory disorder strongly associated with HLA-B27. Sacroiliitis, spinal inflammation and enthesitis are the hallmarks of AS , but the disease may involve also peripheral joints, eye, gut and aorta. The study of AS has made significant progress in the last decade. New knowledge in t...
متن کاملProgress in the genetics of ankylosing spondylitis.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a common, highly heritable, inflammatory arthropathy. In addition to being strongly associated with HLA-B27, a further 13 genes have been robustly associated with the disease. These genes highlight the involvement of the IL-23 pathway in disease pathogenesis, and indicate overlaps between the pathogenesis of AS, and of inflammatory bowel disease. Genetic associati...

Progress in probabilistic generative models has accelerated, developing richer models with neural architectures, implicit densities, and with scalable algorithms for their Bayesian inference. However, there has been limited progress in models that capture causal relationships, for example, how individual genetic factors cause major human diseases. In this work, we focus on two challenges in par...
